Mary Charles Tully Alexander entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 5, 2019 after an extended illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Orval Nolan Alexander), father (Charlie Tully), mother (Ida Clark Tully), and brothers (Mark, Tom and Mike).  Family celebrating her life and cherishing her memory include her children and their spouses: Jim Alexander (Robbie); Janie Alexander Foster (Mike); Alex Alexander (Diane); Albert Alexander (Patricia) and Judy Alexander.  Her many blessings include eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Mary Charles was born on July 20, 1929 in Big Clifty on her parent's farm where she grew up surrounded with love and a sincere appreciation for nature and animals.  She attended George H. Goodman School and Saint Paul Catholic School, graduating in 1948.

She married Orval Alexander in 1954 and traveled with him to various states as he worked for the US Department of Interiors.  They returned to Grayson County and subsequently her husband (a decorated veteran of World War II and Prisoner of War survivor) succumbed to service-connected illness in 1964.

Mary Charles obtained a part-time position with the US Postal Service in 1967.  During her tenure with the US Postal Service she served as the temorary Post Master in Big Clifty on several occasions, including one extended period.  Most of the citizen of Big Clifty knew her from the kindness she dispensed from behind the window at the Post Office.  Mary Charles eventually retired from the US Postal Service.
